Stalking Jack the Ripper
by Kerri Maniscalco
Do you know those detective tv shows? e.g.Castle, Lucifer, White Collar and the list goes on.
Well, this book was like one of those middle episodes, where nothing really happens. I guess I was expecting to find more action in this book, but I got way too much filler dialogue.
-t some point I just took a wild guess and pointed my finger at the killer. As I've said, it was a wild guess, so I didn't get my head in the game and actually try to solve the mystery, it was too boring for me.
-the scientific descriptions were nice, I liked those.
-I don't like our heroine, she kept saying how she is NOT like other girls from that period, which is not ok. Being different and actually shoving it in my face are two different things. She could have been an atypical girl and not repeating that she is. ALSO SHE IS HALF INDIAN, WHICH IS SUPER COOL, BUT THE STUPID COVER DOESN'T GIVE ME ANY CLUE ABOUT THAT. SHE LOOKS WHITE ON THE COVER, OK? A better choice could have been made regarding the cover. I loved when the book mentioned sari, the traditional Indian clothing, or Indian sweets and I wanted the girl on the cover to be at least half-black when it comes to the skin colour.
-now the male character...hmm...he is your typical YA male interest: white, good looking, smart, sarcastic. He loves our protagonist so the only way to get her attention is to be mean to her, right? Please, no! Just be nice for once, thank you very much :)
