Having read and loved The Covenant of Water last year,I chanced upon this short story on Amazon and didn’t want to pass it up.
Abscond is a beautifully crafted story about a family of three Indian Americans living in New Jersey in the 60s. Told from the perspective of a teenager who’s a tennis player, living his best life and enjoying the summer holidays, we are witness to how life can change in a split second.
Abscond deals with themes such as grief and sadness and definitely packs a punch even if the story is quite short. The characters feel very relatable which adds to the strength of the story.
An excellent read!
