*sigh* where do I begin…
the fact that this book has a 4 stars average rating is precisely why I have trust issues.

This book was a total fluke. The premise was nice, it promised tight-knit family, sisterhood, enemies to lovers and hilarious comedy. We get none of this things though.
Her grandmother dies and she forgets in about 2.2 seconds. I know grief works differently for everyone but still…
What tight-knit family and sisterhood? They probably have 5%  of screen time and they let her be with a man who hates her family without telling her.

The MMC is a caricature of what has now become the typical romantasy male love interest. However, he possesses none of the charm and oozing sex appeal they usually have. She just writes that he has, but telling and showing are two different things.

The “banter” they have is just these two grow ass adults being juvenile and immature. Honestly it was so irritating, both of them were.

And what do you mean primary emotions are the key to unlocking her magic? Are you telling me that in 29 years this woman has been alive she never once experienced sadness, joy, anger or fear in a significant way? After you introduce her character as having lived through many heartbreak and her grandmother literally dies at the beginning of the story?! Please.

And speaking of immature adults… the third act break up happens because this 38 year old man has a tantrum and refuses to listen to a word she says? You destroy my family legacy and the thing I care about the most because you have the emotional intelligence of 5 year old and I forgive you in 0.5 seconds?!?!? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Do yourself a favour and do not pick this book up.
