Metamorphosis and Other Stories by Franz Kafka
tense
slow-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? A mix
- Diverse cast of characters? No
- Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes
3.0
Notes:
- Kafka's imagery is extremely vivid and harrowing despite surrounding somewhat mundane settings.
- I feel like Kafka is a good classic to start with and analyse once you know his biographical history — themes of parenthood, fear, horror to do with the mundane world, bureaucracy, etc.
- Some favs from this collection: Metamorphosis, Before The Law, The Coal-Scuttle Rider, Children on the Country Road.
- There were some I didn't really care much about though so final ranking for overall enjoyment.
