Do you know what I love about Q.B. Tyler’s writing? Her characters feel so real and genuine. She gives us a wide variety of colors, shapes, sizes, and… ages without it feeling like a diversity lesson. These characters simply exist. Their sole mission is to find that person who they are meant for, even if it’s going to ruffle some feathers. And these women are educated(I hope you read that in multiple syllables, like ED👏U👏CA👏TED👏). That might be my favorite part. Well, second. Second to the hot steamy explosive chemistry between those couples who are MFEO.
The Secrets series by Q.B. Tyler is some of her best work. It’s so salacious and tension charged. Sometimes I just think about these couples and get giddy. I’ll admit I was a little nervous to find out that the MMC of Our Little Secret was married, but Q.B. told us it was totally worth it. And I hate to admit it… but it was worth it. I found myself justifying his floundering ways the ENTIRE TIME. Like, ya sure, he’s married, but… like these two are clearly a much better fit.
The only bit I struggled with was the timeline. I get that it needed to be that way for the story to work but I can not express the amount of PURE PANIC I experienced when a new bomb was dropped at 87%. Their nearly nearly two years apart pulled at my insides. They weren’t the only ones heartbroken. This last 4th of the book wasn’t as fluid as I would have hoped as it showed us different but very necessary interactions. I did however love that we got to see the other side of the conversation between Reagan in Miami from The Season of Secrets. I could have used a million more epilogues to see the couple’s happily ever after.
