I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I read this book at the perfect time. I don't think I've ever said that before. But 'This is Not a Ghost Story' gave me something I didn't know I needed. I didn't really know what the book was about going in, other than a vague idea about ghosts and a house that our main character isn't wanted in.

In all honesty I don't know how to talk about this book without spoiling everything. It's a beautiful, heart-wrenching read that might just leave you in happy tears by the end. The stream of conciousness style writing means the story meanders and weaves it's way along, through the present tense of the house and seamlessly moving into Daffodil's memories - all without breaking its stride. Her secret keeps you drawn in and the mystery of the house keeps you waiting as well.

For me this was perfect at a perfect time. I've been in a funk recently and this book just helped to start to draw me out of it. Reading about someone else's struggles, without them being painful and in your face was a saving grace. The realisation that maybe it's okay to hang out in bed watching documentaries sometimes, it just really hit a nerve with me.

I adored this book. I completely fell in love with it and flew through. I had my suspicions about what was going on but the ending was perfect for me. Please read this.
