A bleak and depressing view of the world after a nuclear war. Reading it right now, during a global pandemic, has been a strange experience. This book shows the power of fatherly love, and the lengths humans go to survive, to ‘carry the flame’.
I think this book is pretty pessimistic (comes with the territory I suppose!) and that meant it wasn’t a 5* for me. It was a masterclass in the power of sparse prose and a deeply affecting story.
