I read this immediately after finishing The Warded Man. Thankfully it was a quick read, because I didn't get much out of it. I have seen some reviews saying this would be a good read for someone to see if they are interested in getting into Brett's series, but I disagree. The writing is more simplistic than the writing of the series entries, and I don't think I would have chosen to pick up The Warded Man if I had read these two stories first.
