Pigs in Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver

4.0

After reading Demon Copperfield I picked up this book by the same author. I honestly attempted to start reading this book twice and couldn’t get into it. On the third try after making it further into the story line I finally became intrigued. I am back and forth on her writing style, she is very descriptive and clever. However sometimes it’s too wordy and I lose my focus. There are a number of punchlines or almost quotable sentences that come at the end of paragraphs that either make me think, I should write that down or I feel the other way and think, gag me with a spoon! My final opinion is that it’s a good book with a great storyline about Cherokee families. I enjoyed reading her descriptions about Oklahoma as we have family from there and much of it rang true and was nostalgic.
