If you've never read any of Jemisin's work start here. I suggest reading it along with the audiobook to avoid confusion other readers may have encountered. Robin Miles has a way of making each character distinct and draws you into the story. The last 4-5 chapters will definitely send you for a loop and leave you wanting to read The Obelisk Gate.
