Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter

5.0

This book was definitely the best book I’ve read this month (possibly the year so far) ! Ive related to it on so many different levels it’s unbelievable. This book follows the main character, Liz as she navigates senior year. When her childhood crush moves back into town, her number one goal is to get him to ask her to prom! With the help of her guy friend she schemes and plots to make this a reality! Liz has a beautiful character development and we really see her grow. She lost her mother when she was young, and since she now has a step mom things start off very rocky. To top that it is hard for her, considering senior year is full of firsts, such as prom and graduation etc…all things she must learn to cope and deal with without her mother being there for guidance. I have lost someone dearly close to me and this book hit right at home. With just the right amount of drama and romance you will laugh with Liz as well as cry for her. I truly recommend this book!
