Ngl I was thinking of DNFing this book at 30%. There was too much academia in this dark academia and I couldn't care less. So many names that told me nothing, so many pretentious quotes in various languages. If you're an english major (from an english speaking country; which I'm neither of these things) this might be a treat for you.
Second offence on my personal taste was the non-linear storytelling, which I usually avoid like the plague.
AND YET the acutal, physical copy of this was a gift, and it afforded it more grace than my usual thimble of it.
It felt like a 3,5 star read for me, but I'm giving it 0,5 more because I'm honestly impressed how engaged it's kept me in spite of all this adversity.
