What the hell happened here? Asking for two reasons: (1) I LOVED Clockwork Angel and was looking forward to its sequel; (2) what actually happened - this felt like 500 pages of filler.
The plot... was nonexistent? Not to be dramatic but I seriously cannot tell you a single thing that happened in this. My first instinct after finishing this was to look up a synopsis as a refresher... not a good sign. This felt like a melting pot of a bunch of random events that weren't cohesive at all, and I truly believe that the focus was more on the "easter eggs" and callbacks to previous novels and foreshadowing of future ones. I was so disappointed!
I was really excited to revisit our main characters, as they were my favorite part of Clockwork Angel, but they did absolutely nothing for me here unfortunately. I felt like a main focus of this novel was the love triangle between Tessa, Will and Jem and I am NOT a fan. I just don't buy it wholeheartedly like a lot of other readers seem to. Again - so disappointing!!
I truly don't know how this trilogy is going to end, and sadly I care significantly less than I did going into this novel. I'm hoping the finale redeems this one!
