You Could Make This Place Beautiful: A Memoir by Maggie Smith

5.0

I often have trouble with narratives that make an ex-partner the villain in absentia, but I really liked this one, largely because she saw the pitfalls and pushback coming and incorporated it into her writing. These vignettes explore divorce in form as much as content, and the memoir is really served by her background as a poet. An honest, lovely, funny, questing book.
