Middle grade at its best! Yang draws a clear portrait of the very early and early pandemic for younger readers as she introduces the reader to 10 year old Knox, his older brother and younger sister as they navigate a move from Hong Kong to the United States, switching schools, parent money and job struggles, and so much more.

Knox has ADHD though his diagnosis hasn't been revealed to him, and he wants to be "good" but sometimes can't control his impulses.

So many good topics are brought up as well, including Asian American dislike.

And, as I said, a good history lesson for those who were too young to remember the early pandemic.
