this was soooo frustrating actually because i first saw this book about a year and a half ago and thought it looked super interesting and have been wanting to read it ever since but couldn’t find it at the library, finally i find it and i read it and it is NOTHING LIKE I THOUGHT!!! i thought it was gonna be an culturally and historically informed anthropological look at americans and our conception of and need for safety … wtf turns out it’s a personal reflection with like 0 sources and that is mostly about… her??? wait i actually don’t gaf…. random lady… i was so bored and frustrated. the writing wasn’t bad but not at all what i was looking for and not what was advertised and honestly … not even that good in of itself even if i imagine i had gone in expecting this. just sorta boring tbh. very annoyed!!
