Grip starts eight years later after the event that happened in Flow (the prequel). Growing up with the parents that she has , Bristol fights hard not to be someone like the part of her mom she hates. So for years, she avoided Grip for fear of being left vulnerable and hurt, she even pushed Grip to be with another woman. That drama was fun and frustrating to read about. But I love it. The fact that Grip is a black character and is a rap musician also brings color to the story. I like that the author incorporated the scene where Grip and Bristol were stopped for random inspection on the road; a little cliché but a necessary one. I also like how their struggle as a mix race couple played some big part in the story. All in all, an amazing read.
