I finally did it! I finished this absolutely beast of a book! I still can't believe it. Especially because it also means the end of this series that has been haunting me for what seems like ages. Anyway, this book was way too long. I think I can summarize my feelings best with that.
The main issue is that this series has gathered WAY too many POV characters. Each of them have their own thing going on, and at the start of this book all of them are also in a different place. That makes this book so disjointed to read. Especially because there are also some POV's I truly do no give a shit about. This book definitely could have benefited from losing a POV or two. I feel like that would make this book feel a bit more cohesive to me. I'd also help me from not almost completely zoning out during those POV's that just don't matter.
When it comes to the actual story I just feel like it was dragged out a little bit too much. Some scenes definitely felt way longer than they needed to. This book could also feel a bit repetetive at time with different characters learning the same thing at different times, and therefore us having to read it 3 or 4 times. On top of that there also just are quite a few battle scenes, and they mostly just all read about the same. I also feel like some parts in the solution were a bit lackluster. I just guess I expected more of a bang after 7 books of this shit, but ultimately it just felt a bit lackluster, quick, and easy. I don't know.
I was a bit let down by it, I guess. It definitely isn't a bad book, I just feel like it was dragged out way too much. There is a semi decent finale in here, you just got to wade through all the boring stuff. I do have to say that this was a surprisingly quick read. I mean, you definitely feel the lenght (it literally is my issue with this book) but I read this fairly quickly comparatively to its size. I don't really know how that happened.
