Fairest, Volume 4: Of Men and Mice by Adam Hughes, Marc Andreyko, Shawn McManus, Todd Klein, Lee Loughridge

2.0

Disappointing. I've come to the conclusion that I like the idea of this series better than its execution. The art seems juvenile in style, which is an issue twice over. First, because the story elements are designed for mature audiences, and second, when the sketch drafts included as supplements are marginally stronger than the direction chosen for the final characterizations, the specter of 'what might have been' is raised. I'm not a true fan of the hyper-sexualized covers of Adam Hughes, but at least they are better suited to the narrative tone than Shawn McManus' illustrations.
