Beggars in Spain
by Nancy Kress
4.5 stars, this was an interesting look at genetic modification of our children. It theorizes what the ethical, legal, and socioeconomic outcomes might look like. It was a little dry in parts but still engaging and with excellent narration.
Also, the review that stated there was incest and rape? There was a brief dream sequence with hints of incestuous thought, but it was seriously brief and not presented appealingly. I also must have missed rape scene?
The heart of this is hard sci-fi and I don't believe the reviews are doing it justice. Nancy Kress is a very good writer.
