Deadly Kiss by Ariel Marie

This could have been a fun, kinda nonsense enemies to lovers romp, instead it was just pretty boring. The premise is interesting but basically ruined by an instalove attraction on both sides. Then… hardly anything happens despite technically a kidnapping/revolt/insurgent plot.

The writing was also… weirdly formal and plain in a way that could easily be ignored/forgiven if the plot and characters were better. And woof. One of the narrators (for Quinn) was reaaallly hard to listen to. Strange choppy way of speaking, kind of an irritating voice, not that great a performance. The other narrator was better, but also not a great performer. Overall, this was kind of a bummer. But I’m a sucker for vampire stories, so I’m willing to give basically any a try with sapphic plot. Unfortunately, I’d pass on this one unless the author gets a good editor and better narrators. I miiiiight see if reading another in the series instead of listening is a better experience, but who knows.
