If you were looking for a book like the others in the STEM novels this isn't really that. It's more character studies on 2 broken people in a strange relationship while both having to fight their pasts to move forward. Rue is an interesting character who is on one side driven to succeed in her field and make a great invention because of past experiences and on the other is a person who doesn't want to love or make connection. Eli is a driven man who is trying to buy the company Rue works for but who has his own issues and pasts but can't help his feelings. The background story could have been resolved in like 1 conversation but that's not the point here and that wouldn't be as interesting. Not the best but was interesting enough and I liked the side characters so hope some of them get a book to themselves
