A sci-fi romance that delivers on the sci-fi featuring an overly logical alien MMC who looks alien and an intelligent, competent FMC who is not a damsel in distress. And hits all the sapiosexual vibes too.

You can see the authors love of sci-fi in her Spok inspired MMC and her Chapel inspired FMC. Kier—half human, unrelenting self control, wrestles with and is confounded and frustrated by his human emotions. Chloe—competent, direct, accepting and understanding.

They share an immediate connection when they first meet, one of comfortable acceptance as well as intellectually stimulating. Each feels an attraction but neither acknowledges it. A complication from an unintended rut has Chloe saving the life of her friend throwing their relationship into unfamiliar territory. A top secret request for Chloe’s expertise necessitates her visiting Kier’s home planet that is hostile to humans. And he insists he accompany her. Some forced proximity and one marriage of convenience later has Kier experiencing significant character growth as he learns how to navigate the emotions he keeps so tightly leashed.

I’m delighted to have a sci-fi romance series to look forward to that features such an intriguing plot, characters with depth and nuance, and romance with toe-curling spice. The epilogue teases the next book and I can’t wait.
