We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

5.0

i just spent the best thirty minutes of my life listening to the ted talk of this book.
i'll link it here so the next time you have free time you can listen to it:

"but what matters, even more, is our attitude, our mindset. what if, in raising children, we focus on ability instead of gender? what if we focus on interest instead of gender?"
this book, this speech, this feeling:
all incredible. the way chimamanda ngozi adichie worded this, the way she delivered it...the point she made was loud and clear.

everytime she said something that really resonated with me i would make an encouraging, vocal sound because something about this really compelled me to give a response back. this speech makes you think. it starts the conversation. this is a book that doesn't shame "non-feminists", but approaches the word, the connotations behind that, the experiences you face, in a whole new way.

this book, this talk, brought me near tears. i don't know how to explain it but holy shit, if you have time to read any book this year let it be this one. but come to it with an open mind, ready to listen, ready to read without anything standing in the way of this message and you.

my whole world has been shaped. my eyes are opened, my ears are listening. let's continue this conversation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
