The Outlander by Gil Adamson

4.0

Interesting and compelling read. I'm not sure exactly what I liked so much about it, which isn't very helpful. I liked the interior dialogue of characters that was interesting without being tiresome. I liked the combination of the abstract "the widow," "the wife," "the preacher" with very specific and believable characters. I liked the dreamy lyricism and fairy tale like quality, and that Adamson didn't really feel any need to explain to me how or why the widow is crazy and why she murdered her husband. Overall a very well crafted story.
