A Minor Raven Boys Holiday Drabble by Maggie Stiefvater

5.0

This canon short story can be found on Maggie’s blog: https://maggiestiefvater.com/a-minor-raven-boys-holiday-drabble/

Christmas was a dangerous time to be a broken thing; the weight of tradition and history could too easily sink a lethargic swimmer.

The story is set before book one, The Raven Boys, but contains no particular spoilers. It is a nice story set around Christmas, mainly we get to see a bit about Gansey’s life in Henrietta.

He liked that sense that magic was coming for him, instead of the other way around.

Although, there is delicious Stiefvater foreshadowing, if you know what to look for..

Spoiler
“Oh,” said Noah, standing beside Gansey.
Gansey jumped. “Jesus. I didn’t know you had come back.”
“I was always here,” Noah said.

Like I said, it’s great.

Spoiler

Gansey stood at the top of the stairs and shoved the window open. The glass was already cracked, and the window popped as the crack deepened. It held, though. The pane would probably last another year; he had time to fix it.
