I don't think this is a good indicator of the whole in death series but this novella just isn't great. 
The writing is stilted. The plot is uninteresting. The characters feel both flat and overexplained. 
I could have finished it but I wanted a Christmas murder mystery and this book didn't seem interested in providing that.
