Wolf-Speaker by Tamora Pierce
4.0
This didn't pull me in as immediately as the first book in the series, because it begins with the wolf-pack and not with the human conflict element. This novel focuses a lot more on the animals, and Daine's interaction with nature.
I love that Daine is still learning about herself and her magic, especially when she is forced to overcome bias that was formed in the first novel. I appreciated that Pierce had this shift in black-and-white enemy to respected foe for the Stormwings (there can be good and bad in any species).
