If I was in a reading slump before, I'm surely out of it now. This was a phenomenal book. Like I can't express in written words just how much I loved this book. The characters, the plot, the dialog, just everything. I loved the communication between Stassie and Nate. I loved all the nicknames. I loved how perfect Nate was but still having aspects of his character that made him feel real. I loved the way the author included the spicy scenes (detailed with a purpose). I loved watching the characters go from frenemies to lovers. The dual POV was everything. I throughly loved the character arcs and the character conflicts. They actually felt genuine and let it be known I hate a miscommunication trope so having main characters that actually talk through their issues was amazing to read. But also the dialog! I was laughing out loud constantly with this book. The texts are so well written and I feel like accurately capture the essence of new adults in our current time. And Lola! I don't know what it is about side characters and their relationships, but I usually do not vibe with them. I'm not sure what it is about the writing for female side characters in contemporary romance novels, but I usually can't stand them. However, I thought Lols was great and I liked the addition of
her and Robbie
. I loved the inclusion of Halloween and Christmas and how it captured the year at college. I liked how the winter break scenes played out albeit with the dramatics aside.
Yes, that drowning was hella dramatic and was honestly unnecessary. The fact that it's kinda glossed over once she comes back apart from Henry's feelings and she just doesn't talk about the traumatic near death experience is just like what??
But, I'm a sap for it regardless. Why? I don't know. But I loved this book.
