The Summer that Melted Everything by Tiffany McDaniel
2.0

113. There's a great line in one of my favorite guilty-pleasure movies, Big Eden. There's a funeral reception, and the main character's best friend from New York is going gaga over a fruit tart, and she's trying to figure out who made it. He points out one old lady, and she laughs and says "a woman didn't make this." At his protests, she says she doesn't mean anything by it, but there's no way a woman made it. I don't know what she meant by it, but I do know that I had the same reaction about this book: a woman didn't write this. I'm not disputing it, I just can't make sense of it. But the two-star is because it mostly bored me to sleep.
