You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero

1.0

there were parts that were helpful in terms of boiling down what is said in a lot of other self-help books into more relatable language, but so many things took me out of the book and distracted me from hearing the few key points that might have been relevant. for example, the lack of understanding when it comes to mental health (telling people to just stop being depressed) or the very cringe eat, pray, love-esque approach of using india as something so “other” you can use it as a way to find yourself and be so “shocked” by everything to remind yourself how lucky you are. overall, it just left a bad taste in my mouth and had a few other things that ranged from cringe to needing to skip a head a few lines. i think there are better self-help/memoir books that make the same points as in here in more salient and thoughtful ways.
