Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah

challenging funny informative lighthearted fast-paced

4.0

Wow. So much happened in the author's early life. It was such a personal and engaging read. I have read about Apartheid-era South Africa before, but knew very little about the legacy of Apartheid in post-Apartheid South Africa.
The light hearted tone of of this book counters  the heavier topics really well. It's grounded in his reality. I would recommend this book to many people because of its readability. I just learnt so much from reading this.

Spoiler
I though Trevor's mother had been killed, and I was so mad and gutted. It is so so lucky that she survived that.
