3.5

This is the kind of writing that it is difficult to believe came from the mind a fellow human being. It is complex and layered and difficult at times, but it is also rooted in some of the most common emotions and experiences.

It is an immersive exploration of pregnancy and impending motherhood. It is so rare to read writing about doubting motherhood or questioning whether it is something that you want, so it still feels refreshing and affirming to read. The fear of losing a sense of self and identity to all-encompassing motherhood was expressed in such a unique way and yet felt like it was conveying something almost universal.

The collection is definitely one that you need to take your time with and reread, and I wonder what I will find if I pick it up again.
