Crookedstar's Promise by Erin Hunter
5.0
This is another fantastic Warriors super edition! Crookedstar has a unique backstory and path to leadership, as he not only has to overcome a permanent disability, but also has to deal with constantly proving himself to the other cats because of it. That alone would make for an interesting setup, but the Dark Forest training and promise he makes to Mapleshade was a cool journey as well. Add in the heartbreaking neglect from his mother and the amount of grief in Crookedstar's life and this may be the most emotional Warrior cat book yet. I could have read a full trilogy from Crookedstar's perspective and I was super surprised to find myself so attached to him. I loved getting a book from a Riverclan cat's perspective too, as they always struck me as the most unique clan.
If you're someone who has been avoiding reading super edition and novellas and typically sticks to the main series books, I'd encourage breaking that pattern to check this book out!
