For me, this is the weakest one in the series so far. It didn’t need to be as long as it was and although there is a bit of action, it also feels slow, like nothing much is happening. I’m disappointed with the lack of development of Susannah - she should be fighting, she is a fighter, but she just gets swept along without any real agency.
The whole plot line with Stephen King inserting himself into the story and the ending also feels very unnecessary and adds nothing to the story. It reads as though Stephen King wrote it without any real idea of where to take the story after Wolves of the Calla. It’s a shame as I’ve loved the series so far.
