What Would Frida Do?: A Guide to Living Boldly
by Arianna Davis
This book was a very approachable biography. If you aren’t really into because they are often too much like textbooks, you shouldn’t worry about that with this one. It’s fun and cute. That being said, I found it pretty repetitive with some of the facts and each time they were mentioned it was as of it was the first time we were hearing it rather than a reminder of the fact, as if the author wrote the chapters separately and then put the book together at the end. Also, there are great explanations for her paintings, but no pictures of them so be ready to search for them online. After all of that, I will say that my favorite thing was that the author wrote the chapters as themes on Frida’s life rather than purely chronologically. Perhaps it is meant to be used as a reference book for segments of her life and that is why there is repetition of the information, that would make the most sense to me. The author also has a really adorable “what would Frida do” section after each chapter in which she talks about how Frida might handle different challenges we all face in life. Overall, really cute book and I’m glad I picked it up.
