This book was a lot darker than I expected. Probably the most fantasy out of the fantasy books I’ve read in terms of tails and ogres and all that jazz. I wasn’t expecting the whole family to get murdered and actually stay murdered that was different than other books I’ve read when the characters magically come back to life. The enemies to lovers trope was great but they didn’t even end up becoming lovers so maybe in book 2. It took me longer to read this book because the plot was a little slow but I enjoyed it for the most part.
