The Hours by Michael Cunningham
3.0

I wavered between 3 and 4 stars for this book. After sitting on it over the weekend, I think three is the most appropriate.

The book is well written and generally enjoyable, despite the fact that in many ways nothing happens. It is creative and comes together at the end, but ultimately is the typical story of the privileged woes. These are easy to relate to, but the story is overdone in literature. I understand that privileged woes is perhaps not giving the nuances of the stories justice, especially where there is a layer of feminism and LGBTQ acceptance. But, it feels so much like it is still centered around the pain and suffering of a sort of privileged depression that makes it not my favorite story.

I have heard good things about the movie, so I need to check it out.

Anyway, I still think I would recommend.
