Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat

I’m not going to lie, reading some of the spoilers in the other reviews was helpful for me to prepare a bit of what this book had to offer.

What no one mentioned was how grappling the story was ! I was on the edge of my seat, constantly flipping the next page, reading each and every word. I do not think I have ever read a book faster. From the characters to the actual plot, I was a bit confused with the lingo and mystery around some of the details — some pieces of plot wouldn’t be fully revealed until a few paragraphs further down.

I definitely feel like this could have easily been a 5 outta 5 book with a bit more clearer character development, the cutting out of the weird point of view switching (going from “he” to “I” and “me” ?), and definitely by adding more depth and detail to the overall backdrop of the book.

Sometimes it felt as if the reader was the one who was blindfolded, since details and descriptions were bare and far between. Give me the room, the smells, the sounds, the feels, not just “blond hair, green eyes.”

Other than all that ^^^, the book did have me on my seat and constantly screaming at some of the character’s actions. It was engaging and enticing to the audience. Still a great read, 4/5 stars
