V E Schwab simply never disappoints. Although the Shades of Magic trilogy is still my favorite so far (I mean I have only read 5 books written by her and three of them belong to the Shades of Magic trilogy), this book has given the trilogy a mighty competition, and who knows, they might tie if I think so once I finish Vengeful :)

I love X-Men and the whole Magneto/Professor X conflict. And I love books about morally ambigous characters. And even better, I love anti-heroes - Loki anyone? The story in the first book revolves around two EOs (Extra Ordinaries) - Victor and Eli. The story is extremely fast paced with superb supporting characters such as Serena, Sydney and Mitch (I love Mitch) and never bores even till the end.

The theme in the book is great for book club discussions - what do you have to trade to get a superpower? Who is a hero and who is a villain? Are there any good people or are there only bad, worse and unlucky people? Looks like this theme has been coming up a lot in the fiction I've been reading and watching - Vicious, Word of Honor, Dead to Me - and its something I am extremely interested in as a topic of discussion.

So yes, if any of the above subjects interests you, I absolutely recommend this book :) Also, Happy Bday month - VE Schwab!!
