This book tackles too much for its length, but in a very good way. It was concise without sacrificing the expressiveness in its prose. Zweig also did so well for a story about a woman and the reality that they can be irrational and rash, too. Among that, he also wrote about shame, and that idea of wanting to die the second you feel it, as well as addiction with such accuracy.

I think Zweig got the utmost point of writing and storytelling in this piece of his. It’s not only to make people feel things, but to have them learn about experiences outside of themselves that they would not have known otherwise.
