To Shape a Dragon's Breath

I really wanted to love this book. Diverse and dragons? Yes. And I am so glad that this book exists and people are loving it, but I just couldn't get into it.
I think that this book could have benefitted more from using some things from the real world. The number of things where the names changed - places, school subjects, titles, ELEMENTS - was just too much and I think it took away from the commentary that should be centered, with the colonialism and classism.
I also realized that I just don't love academic books. No matter how much I love learning and school and subjects, I don't enjoy reading whole chapters of characters being in class learning...
Anyways. Like I said, I'm so glad this book exists and that I gave it a chance. I'm just sad that it wasn't for me.
