Audio is dual narration. A romance develops between a twenty-something podcaster Ridley (nickname “chaos”) and the local sheriff (Colt aka “lawman”) who butt heads and then work together to solve the case of who went after their sisters. Overall, I enjoyed the writing, pacing, and characters, but felt the intimate scenes did not match the characters at all (Colt is super dominating without any discussion or hints that she would enjoy that dynamic versus her taking more initiative ). Also, she was almost too hyper competent in a way took me out of the story as she has one of the most popular podcasts that she creates without any additional on site staff (no sound tech, producer, etc…) in weeks. Real high quality true crime podcasts take many people many months to make and there was no reason to start airing and promoting on social media before she was further along. Otherwise I thought both audiobook narrators were good, especially Andi Arndt, and the emotional points of the story hit. I knocked down a star for the mystery as it ended up feeling a bit Scooby Doo with the prosthetics and hiding in plain sight and didn’t feel like there were enough clues to pay off . First fmc with an e-bike that I’ve encountered and her camper van seemed very impressive—especially the cat cooling system :)
