The Master Magician by Charlie N. Holmberg

I’m not sorry that I read this trilogy. I absolutely was engaged in the magical world and found it quite fascinating and immersive.

However, Ceony was a frustrating protagonist. Again, she is stymied by the historical setting
this book takes place in, but her absolute obstinance in thinking that she alone had to do something about the bad guy was frustrating. Equally frustrating was everyone else not working with Ceony or placating her under the guise she needed protection because she was a woman and/or was incompetent because she was only an apprentice.

Regardless, I enjoyed the tame sweet romance between Ceony and Emery (what little there was of it), and the finale was quite good. Again, a flawed heroine, but the magical embellishments surrounding her kept this nicely afloat.
