Murder at the Monastery by Richard Coles
4.0

This story is set in a monastery as the reverend Daniel Clement goes on retreat and gives us an insight into a monks life; comparing it to prison in terms of its rituals and routines.

However, as with any enclosed space, tensions run high and tolerance is in short supply when what you believe is threatened. But to kill for?

It also deals with global Christian issues, the ordination of woman priests, sexuality as well as love and loss. The author also brings in the Communards and is set in a time not that long ago when there were no mobile phones and tablets were a thing of the future.

Hidden lives and dark secrets are exposed as the reverend sets out to prove that what appeared to be an accident was in fact a cold bloodied murder to ensure those secrets remained buried.

A lovely story with a twist at the end!
