The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden
4.0

This started out so slow in the first third of the book, and none of the characters were likeable. I'm glad I stuck with it, but the first part should have been more engaging and fast paced because I almost DNF'd it. You do have to suspend your disbelief a bit as there are a couple of things that are a bit too convenient.
The sex scenes were suitably steamy and well executed. But I wish there had been more of a build up to it, Isa went from hating Eva to pure desire in a second?? That felt a bit unbelievable

I liked the reveal, but I wish the book was more historical. It would have been good to explore more how the country was grappling with
it's treatment of the Jewish people during WWII.

The second two parts I read in 2 days, I was invested in how things were going to turn out. But the ending felt really rushed after such a slow burn. I would have loved to see how
Hendrik and Louis reacted to their relationship.

Overall enjoyed the book but you have to slog through the first third.
