Heart on Fire
by Amanda Bouchet
I feel like quite a few threads weren't neatly tied up in this conclusion, but overall a great finish. I got jusssst enough to leave me satisfied but would have preferred a lot more detail, honestly.
I found this book initially slower than the last two, and then it suddenly felt like everything was happening at once. There were battles, some quick quests, but just not as much detail as the previous two books.
I also got a tad sick of Cat's whole difficulty understanding her self worth. Part of me loved how complicated she was, but I also felt like there was a lof of self pity, despite just about everyone being supportive and understanding. I mean, I feel like over 3 books she had limited growth and then it all just smacked her in the face within the last hundred pages. I get she was meant to be traumatised by her upbringing, etc., etc. But it just got a bit much for me.
Despite all that though, still a great read. A little heart wrenching - but it was long over due - and some good action scenes gave me just what I expected for this conclusion. I'm so glad that everyone got a little mention during this book, even if I didn't get as much of them as I wanted.
