Alpha Wolf by Rune Hunt

4.0

The boys from the Luna pack, Stone, Krew & Kai (the twins), Reed, and Zeno have all received their mark, but they have yet to find their alpha. They set about a journey to locate their leader following clues from Kira, a seer, and longtime friend of the pack.

Alpha Wolf follows the story of Esme, a latent wolf shifter, oblivious to her true identity.

In all the history of wolf shifters, there has only been one female alpha, so it’s exceedingly rare. As such, Esme is sought-after, not just by her pack, but by others as well. The intentions of the Midnight Wolves, who have been tracking her, are nefarious. Though Esme has been clueless that the carnage plaguing her small town is related to her until the boys arrive.

Between the budding relationship between Esme and her pack, and the attacks by the Midnight Wolves, there is no lack of action! Likewise, I really connected with several of these characters and liked the unique personalities of each, even Reed, who is a complete @ss! That said, I do wish that Esme’s transition from clueless to Alpha had not been so abrupt. I would have liked to see that develop in a more natural way.

One of my favorite aspects of a RH storyline is seeing what each member of the harem brings to both the individual and collective relationship. Rune did an excellent job of showcasing each member‘s personality and making them an integral part of the overall relationship.

“It’s not that Stone isn’t enough, because if it was them and without him, it wouldn’t feel complete. They all serve a purpose in your growth. You just don’t know it yet.”

The cliffhanger in this book is why I don’t read them! What a way to leave us hanging! I’m looking forward to the next installment and learning what Esme and her boys do next!
