The Gilded Years by Karin Tanabe
4.0
This book was right up my alley and I enjoyed it. I love reading historical fiction set during the Gilded Age and especially liked reading about the college experience during this time. This fictionalized account of Anita Hemings, the first African American student to graduate from Vassar while passing for white, was interesting and the author's note at the end answered my questions about which details were real and what was fictionalized.
I would recommend this to fans of historical fiction, especially women's stories.
