arghument 's review for:
Arsenic and Adobo
by Mia P. Manansala
The premise of this book was oh so appealing to me, and I'm sad it didn't live up to my expectations.
The characters were not particularly enjoyable (i had a soft spot for yuki tho) and I don't dig the 'every woman hates me for petty reasons and men fall heads over heels for me' trope. Lila questioning restaurants owners get repetitive and the police work is appaling. Plus there's so many unanswered questions (i get that this is the first book of a serie but beside the mystery part, absolutely nothing is solved).
It made me hungry tho. So I'll probably read the next installment to get my fix of food content.
